Taiping is the second largest town in Perak after Ipoh which it is located about 85 km north of the town of Ipoh and 95km away from the south of Penang. Once upon a time the city is located in the heart of the main routes north and south, but at present a shortcut was built that is located about 6 km from the town of Taiping.

Sanitary Board is a building that was selected to conduct this research. The building was built in 1892, almost reaching 122 years. The uniqueness of this building is located on a structure that has survived to the present. The building is located near the first railway in Peninsular Malaysia, which has connecting Taiping and Port Weld Town 8 miles. Among the interesting factor of this building is its position next to Post Office, built in 1884, the Government Rest House which was built in 1894 and also the first English school in Malaya, King Edward VII, built in 1883 by the early history of the purpose this building is home to the Board of Health to Taiping. In 1950, the building was home to Taiping Health Office and the Office of the District Council (Taiping Municipal Council).

This architecture is characterized by Anglo-Indian (the 19th century). In addition, the building is also used as an office building Taiping Municipal Council (MPT), which is now used as an exhibition hall and private companies furniture business. Board Hygiene (Sanitary Board) is the government body established during British rule. Therefore, building more highlights features alongside British colonial architecture combined with locally.
